About the author

Stacie (S.D.) Caldwell is the founder of Phoenix Empowered, a recovery-informed educational framework exploring trauma bonds, attachment wounds, addiction recovery, and the process of reclaiming self-trust after relational confusion.

Her work draws from lived experience, long-term recovery, and years of observing patterns that many women quietly navigate — including trauma-bonded relationships, emotional and psychological abuse, spiritual disorientation, and the slow rediscovery of identity.

Through her own experiences with addiction, complex relationships, and significant personal losses, Caldwell came to recognize a gap in traditional recovery conversations: the lack of education around attachment wounds and trauma bonds. Phoenix Empowered was created to help bridge that gap by offering insight, reflection, and language for experiences many women struggle to understand.

Her goal in sharing her story is not only to reclaim her own voice, but to help others recognize patterns earlier, rebuild self-trust, and return to themselves with greater clarity and strength.

Phoenix Empowered was born from the realization that many women are taught how to recover from addiction, but very few are taught how to understand the powerful attachment patterns that keep them returning to relationships that slowly cost them their identity.

Even years into sobriety, Caldwell found herself repeating painful relational patterns she didn’t fully understand. While recovery programs helped her overcome addiction, she struggled to find clear language or education around trauma bonds, attachment wounds, and the powerful emotional dynamics that can keep people returning to relationships that slowly erode their sense of self.

Recognizing this gap became a turning point. Phoenix Empowered was created to explore those missing conversations and to offer insight, reflection, and understanding for others navigating similar patterns.

By sharing her story openly, Caldwell hopes to help others recognize these dynamics earlier, rebuild self-trust, and avoid the years of confusion that so many people quietly endure.

“Sobriety gave me my life back — but it didn’t immediately give me the understanding I needed to break the attachment patterns that kept pulling me back into relationships that slowly eroded my sense of self.” S.D. Caldwell

Our unique approach to healing

Rather than offering therapy or diagnosis, Phoenix Empowered focuses on education, reflection, and understanding the deeper psychological and biological dynamics behind attachment.

Stacie is currently writing Awakening From the Spell, a forthcoming book about trauma bonds, distorted attachment patterns, and the process of reclaiming clarity and inner authority. Expected publication: May 2026.

"Phoenix Empowered is designed to be your steadfast support system as you navigate your journey of self-discovery and recovery."
